I've always taken pleasure in craftsmanship. Sure, I enjoy interpreting and finding the meaning in an artwork, but part of me always want to decipher how it was made.
This is also true in my own work. I don't like to shy away from the hard stuff, because to me that rids the whole process of a sense of craftsmanship. A previous work of mine, Embroidered Zoetrope, is all about trying to create a previously unseen combination of materials and methods, and ultimately invent a new experience for the viewer. The meaning is the craft, and process by which I made it.
I recently had the honour of making my first animated children's short film for Sesame Studios.
